The fourth-generation Apple TV — the last to top out at HD resolution and which is now referred to only as "Apple TV HD" — released in 2015 is still supported on tvOS.
No one is saying the M1 is slow. But the M2 is faster. I have 2 Apple TV HD, a 1st Gen 4K, a 2nd Gen 4K, and at some point today, 2 3rd Gen 4K.

Switched on and off …. There is no on-off switch on the device. It has sleep/wake from the remote, and a power cord that can be disconnected. It may be a two factor authorisation issue. The solution is to get a verification code from an iOS device. On your iphone go to Settings next at the top where your name is select to go to icloud, select Password & Security scroll down to Get Verification Code and select. Note down the code that is sent.

I had to restore 2 of my 3 old Apple TV ver 3 units, and now they will not login to iCloud. (The third is still logged into iCloud, from years ago.) They ask for the username, then password.
